More than a year after Russia's invasion into Ukraine, the international community's ability to prevent atrocities and hold perpetrators accountable has been called into question by many. Accusations of war crimes have been leveled against Russian armed forces — and though an arrest warrant was issued this month for Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court, it's unclear if and when he will actually be arrested.
But another international body has also been working for more than a year on investigating and producing concrete findings of human rights violations in Ukraine. Pablo de Greiff, one of the members of the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, joins us today to discuss the international human rights system's response to the war.
